Past:
A long time ago, there was a family (mother, father, young daughter) who lived in a house in the middle of some marshes. One night, when the daughter had fallen asleep, her father was called out for work purposes (he was a doctor). Her mother had not yet returned from her own work shift, but the father did not know this. Unknowingly, the parents had left the daughter alone in the house. Usually, her mother or father would turn off the bedside lamp once their daughter had fallen asleep, but due to their absence, the lamp stayed on longer than usual. Whilst she was asleep, the daughter accidentally knocked over the lamp, causing a fire and therefore the house went up in flames. She died in her sleep, and the parents blamed themselves. They were so distraught, they killed themselves. Now the young girl haunts the house, not knowing that she is dead, waiting for her parents to return home.
Present
Two boys and two girls embark on a road trip. The car runs out of petrol, which leaves the teenagers stranded. The two boys decide to go looking for a petrol station, leaving the girls in the car. Hours pass, and night falls. The boys still aren't back. The car broke down near an abandoned house, and the girls soon notice there are flashes of light coming from the house, like a torch. As they noticed the house was abandoned and damaged by fire, they know there is no way someone could live in there, so they think the boys have returned and are playing a trick on them, trying to scare them. The girls get out of the car to go into the house, to go and find the boys. Once inside the house, they cannot find the boys, and begin to get spooked by various different events. For example, they can occasionally see a young girls face, hear a young girl singing and doors slam. When they try to get out, the door is jammed and locked, they are trapped.
The house they are in is the same house that the family occupied before, and the girl they keep seeing and hearing is the daughter who doesn't realise she is dead.
We hope to show both past and present in our trailer, to ensure the plot makes sense.
